My name is Melanie and I am the proud owner of Wick and Candle Metaphysical Shop & Supplies. I opened my business in 2020, just before the start of the pandemic. I underwent the normal challenges that often occur when starting a new business, along with added restrictions of a world-wide shutdown!
During the four years at our Livonia location, we grew into a beautiful community and gained a loyal clientele, to whom we will always be grateful for, and many of which we consider to be our “spiritual family”, today.
In 2023, my personal life took a turn for the worst, which trickled into and merged with business slowing down at my shop. The death of my mother was a huge shock and setback for my family and me. She was my biggest fan, and she was so helpful in so many ways. “Without her guidance, what will I do?”, I asked myself in the months after her passing. Business began to fade and my interest in socializing became thinner every day. After months of barely holding on, I had to make the hardest decision of my entire life so far, to give up on my dream and close my business.
Opening the shop and creating the space we did felt so Divinely led, so undergoing the process of closing the doors and turning the lights off on Wick and Candle was devastating in so many ways. The sadness consumed me, and failure filled my soul. The fear of letting people down was beyond frightening. I was at the bottom.
Soon after making this tough decision, I was visited by one of my spirit guides through the night, who displayed images for me to interpret, communicating with me openly, giving me the huge wakeup call and ways to improve the situation I was in, leading to a supported future. As if someone shook me out of a nightmare, I was motivated, driven, confident, and filled with dedication for a new beginning. That morning, I changed my “going out of business” sign to “relocating”. This completely changed the vibes. My customers and family were excited about this new direction and venture, and they were ready to follow me, wherever I ended up.
Through many weeks of searching, we finally found a new home. Wick and Candle Metaphysical Shop & Supplies is now located in Commerce Township, just 25 Minutes from our old location in Livonia. Staying somewhat local was very important to me, so that I could continue to serve my loyal customers and community while expanding into new territory as well. We have laid out our new space to conveniently hold events, classes, workshops and gatherings. My family and I have updated the vibe and appearance of the shop and brushed off the dirt where I once was buried in grief and sorrow. Like a phoenix I have risen from the ashes and created a new vision. I am so grateful for my spiritual team, my family, friends and amazing customers for supporting my dream and forever moving forward.
